ActiveXperts Network Monitor Engine Service Credentials
The ActiveXperts Network Monitor Engine Service is the core component of the ActiveXperts Network Monitor: it runs in the background and runs all checks. It runs the checks with credentials that you can set in the 'Services Applet' in Windows (see below).
Most Windows-based checks require administrative priviledges to allow monitoring the remote machine. Therefore, it is recommended to use credentials that have administrative priviledges on the monitored computers. It is highly recommended to use Domain Admin credentials. To monitor other domains, you can set alternate credentials per check.
To modify the credentials for the Network Monitor service, use the following steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Administrative Tools.
- Double-click Services
- Right-click the 'ActiveXperts Network Monitor' service, and then click Properties.
- On the Log On tab, change the password, and then click Apply.
- On the General tab, click the Start button to restart the service.
